21 businesses join mission to unlock opportunities in Saudi Arabia
The mission will grow the profile of New Zealand’s world-class offerings and strengthen businesses partnerships in this dynamic and high-potential market.

Twenty-one New Zealand businesses in the food, tech, creative and construction sectors will join the Minister for Trade and Investment, Hon Todd McClay, in Riyadh next week (14-16 September) to promote and strengthen trade and investment ties with Saudi Arabia. The visit, supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), will drive further momentum into our trade relationship with Saudi Arabia ahead of the expected entry into force of the New Zealand-Gulf Cooperation Council free trade agreement (NZ-GCC FTA).
“Saudi Arabia is undergoing rapid change under its Vision 2030 strategy – it has one of the most accelerated reform and rebuild agendas in the world,” said Peter Chrisp, Chief Executive of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
“As a result, there are excellent opportunities for our companies to contribute across the premium food sector, both as a source of expertise for Saudi Arabia’s developing agricultural sector and by meeting demand for high quality food and beverage products. Our agile and innovative tech and construction companies also offer cutting-edge building-sector solutions and materials that can further fast-track the country’s transformation.
“The mission will grow the profile of New Zealand’s world-class offerings and strengthen businesses partnerships in this dynamic and high-potential market, which ultimately supports New Zealand’s long-term growth and prosperity,” Mr Chrisp said.

Saudi Arabia is one of our largest and fastest-growing export destinations in the Middle East. Export value has more than doubled in the past four years, from $620 million (Year End June 2021) to $1.35 billion (Year End June 2025). Total two-way trade in goods and services is worth $1.58 billion, making Saudi Arabia our 22nd largest bilateral trading partner and our 18th biggest export destination by value.
The visit to Saudi Arabia supports the Government’s overall strategic vision to diversify trade, double the value of exports over ten years and accelerate New Zealand’s economic growth.
