Launched today, the Climate Action Toolbox is a free, easy-to-use online tool that shows businesses how to reduce their emissions. It brings together the best tools, resources and information to make it easy for businesses of all sizes to take action on climate.

The Climate Action Toolbox provides tailored advice and support via a self-assessment tool based on the user's business type and core activities. Users can choose from over 40 specific actions across five priority areas to help improve their climate impact.

The Toolbox includes step-by-step guides for reducing emissions, a personalised action plan that users can review and update, links to useful tools, resources and information, and inspirational stories about businesses already taking climate action.

The Climate Change Commission recently identified a need for tools to help smaller businesses take action on climate change. Small-to-medium businesses make up a large part of New Zealand's economy and their combined efforts on climate change could have a significant effect on the country's emissions.

The Toolbox was created through a major collaboration between the public and private sector involving SBN, business.govt.nz, Waka Kotahi (New Zealand Transport Agency), New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (EECA), BNZ, Meridian Energy and design agency DNA.

"Both in New Zealand and overseas, we're seeing consumers really care about the products they're consuming, and the brands they're purchasing from. We want all businesses to be equipped with the tools that can help them act on that," says Grace Ashman, Sustainability Lead at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

"The Climate Action Toolbox gives businesses a path to help reduce their environmental footprint, but also become more efficient, more resilient, and overall stronger performers.
"That offers huge benefits for New Zealand's economy, our communities and our regions, and ultimately for our business presence and success in global markets."

Businesses can access the Climate Action Toolbox at business.govt.nz/climate.
