Croptide - cream of the crop investment
New Zealand agritech innovator Croptide has closed a $4.25 million investment, fast-tracking plans to run commercial pilots of its cutting-edge plant sensor technology across Hawkes Bay orchards.
Dylan Lawrence, GM of Investment at NZTE, says the capital raise reflects the huge potential for growth in New Zealand’s agritech sector.
“We’re excited to see Croptide taking their solution to the next level. It’s a great example of a Kiwi company delivering innovation that’s good for business and for the planet, and we’re thrilled to have been able to support them in this fantastic result.”
Croptide’s innovative sensor device is paving the way for a more efficient and sustainable approach to crop management around the world.
It gathers real time plant information and puts valuable insights at growers’ fingertips, so they can make informed decisions on when and how much to irrigate. Ultimately, this helps maximise crop yield, reduce water waste by up to 50%, and deliver better financial and environmental outcomes.
Good for business and good for the planet.
Croptide is already being used by fruit and wine producers across New Zealand, including T&G, Zespri, Rockit, Cloudy Bay, Villa Maria and Pernod Ricard. It’s one of many Kiwi agritech companies raising the profile of Aotearoa on a global stage, generating jobs and delivering a positive economic impact to this country.
Dylan Lawrence, GM of Investment says "Globally, the potential for growth is huge. The wider Agritech sector continues to be one of New Zealand’s biggest and most innovative, generating $1.6 billion in revenue – 75% of which is from exports.
Croptide is an exciting development for the world, and we are so proud it's a NZ founded company".
Croptide has already run trials in California, Washington, Spain, France and Italy, and its solution will be a game changer for growers across the world as climate change delivers more extreme weather events.
