New Zealand businesses to bolster Asia trade ties on PM Mission
Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon and a senior New Zealand business delegation will travel to Malaysia and the Republic of Korea (1-6 September) to deepen ties with key Indo-Pacific partners.

The business delegation will travel to Malaysia and Korea to lift relationships in the Indo-Pacific region. Supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the visit reflects the Government's strong desire to deepen connections, diversify trade and bolster New Zealand’s economic recovery.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise General Manager International, Clare Wilson, said: "Developing these strategic relationships through missions is vital to increasing trade and investment flows into New Zealand and critical to the Government’s ambition to double the value of exports over the next ten years.
“New Zealand Trade and Enterprise is working hard to support the government in this ambition by helping New Zealand companies to leverage opportunities to diversify and grow in Malaysia and Korea, and matching investors in these markets with high-value growth opportunities in New Zealand.”
Korea is New Zealand’s 6th largest trading partner with two-way trade totalling $8.5 billion in the year to March 2024. While Malaysia is the 9th biggest with bilateral trade reaching 4.5 billion.
