New Zealand Trade and Enterprise is deploying an additional $40 million, allocated by the Government to support SMEs as they deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will go through the Regional Business Partner Network (RBP). The allocation is $37.25 million in vouchers for businesses to access expert advisory services and $2.75 million to scale up the network including adding additional Growth Advisors across the country.

NZTE Chief Executive Peter Chrisp, acknowledged the huge demand the network has seen over the last several weeks.

"Many RBP partners have seen more businesses in the last two months or so than they would in a year. It has been a monumental effort and I really want to acknowledge the incredible work being done across the country," he said.

"The RBP was identified as a scalable, existing network that had the ability to reach SMEs to provide business support as the impacts of COVID-19 became known. It's about getting the support where it's needed as fast as we can."

"NZTE, in partnership with Callaghan Innovation will continue to work intensively with the RBP to do that,' said Mr Chrisp.
