Report on the impact of AI for data centre demand in New Zealand

The New Zealand Government is keen to enable the country to be a thriving digital nation and NZTE has identified digital infrastructure as a sector of focus.
NZTE previously partnered with Analysys Mason to develop a report covering the potential for green DCs in New Zealand back in 2022.
The past 2 years since has seen significant global developments in the artificial intelligence (AI) space that is driving an uplift in data centre demand to support this – with New Zealand potentially well-positioned to take advantage of this.
NZTE has again partnered with Analysys Mason to conduct a study to assess the implications of AI towards data centre demand and the potential role of New Zealand in facilitating this. This study builds on a report NZTE previously commissioned covering the potential for green DCs in New Zealand back in 2022, the report is available here.
This report covers the following:
Global AI trends and the impact of data centres.
AI-driven data centre demand by key segments, including emergence of GPU-as-a-service (GPUaaS).
Value proposition of New Zealand in supporting AI-driven data centre demand.
