Top business leaders join Prime Minister in Japan
Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon and a senior New Zealand business delegation will travel to Japan (16-19 June) to deepen ties with key Indo-Pacific partner.

A New Zealand business delegation, led by Air New Zealand and ASB Chair, Dame Therese Walsh, will join New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon on a mission to Japan (16-19 June). Supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the visit reflects the Government's commitment to lifting its engagement with Japan, diversifying trade and accelerating New Zealand's economic growth.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Chief Executive, Peter Chrisp, said, "New Zealand Trade and Enterprise is focussed on supporting the government's goal of doubling the value of exports over the next ten years. As one of our most important trading partners, Japan represents a wealth of opportunity for New Zealand exporters.
"This mission will help strengthen our traditional offerings in agrifood, while leveraging new opportunities in innovation and renewable energy and driving increased investment across all sectors."
In 2023, two-way trade between New Zealand and Japan totalled $9.9 billion and exports are growing in many of New Zealand's key sectors, particularly dairy, which is up 80% in the last seven years. The business delegation represents a diverse cross section of New Zealand's top companies engaged in Japan as well as those looking to enter the market.
Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, said: "I am excited to be accompanied by a senior business delegation, who share my ambition for this country and will work closely with me to showcase the very best New Zealand has to offer."
