Consumers who wish to shop at Costco need to become members and Costco shoppers are big with an average shopping basket size of over $129. Costco has an amazing range of products on the floor, from this $10,000 TV to a 1kg tub of Vegemite, or a 60 pack of toilet paper. For suppliers to be successful in Costco they need to have product innovation, competitive pricing and an ability to deliver in self-merchandising units.
Abe’s bagels have done a fantastic job here with their self-merchandising here at Costco. Another great example of self-merchandising units is Annie’s Fruit Bars. For New Zealand companies to be successful in Costco, they need to have product innovation, competitive pricing and the ability to deliver in self-merchandising units.
