Seminar Series 

Mexico and Peru are emerging markets, full of opportunities for New Zealand businesses. But just like any market, they’re not without their challenges. NZTE is running a series of seminars throughout New Zealand where market experts and seasoned exporters will share their tips, insights and knowledge to ensure you make the most of what these exciting markets can offer.

These seminars are open to all New Zealand businesses already exporting to Mexico and Peru or considering these markets. Companies who attend the seminar series may be eligible for NZTE's Business Immersion Programme.

About the New Zealand Story Group Perception Research

To help Kiwi business get ahead, New Zealand Story Group and Latin America CAPE commissioned in-market research with a focus on supporting a better understanding of the trade opportunities offered to New Zealand through the CPTPP. About the NZTE Mexico and Peru Business Immersion Programme 

The Mexico and Peru Business Immersion Programme is a four-phase market immersion programme run by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Story Group and Latin America CAPE to help Kiwi business get ahead in these markets. 
It is an invite -only, guided learning experience targeted at decision makers in businesses who are either already exporting to Mexico and/or Peru or are export-ready to discover and plan entry into these markets.

Phase 1 – Understanding the opportunities in Mexico and Peru

  • Phase one workshops in Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch.
  • One-on-one meetings with Trade Commissioners for Mexico and Peru to discuss the programme and fit with your needs. *subject to availability
  •  Proposed webinar series with more detailed market/sector information.

Phase 2 – Individual company needs analysis and market research

  • NZTE will work with your business to understand your current situation, gaps and initial plans for the Mexico and/or Peru markets. This will be conducted via videoconference. 
  • NZTE will undertake and deliver customised market research matched with the gaps and needs identified in the discovery call. The market research will also identify key contacts for your business development that can be incorporated in the market immersion visit.
  • NZTE will work with you and an advisor to develop your value proposition to prepare for the market immersion visit.  

Phase 3 – Market Immersion – Mexico and/or Peru

All participants on the Mexico and Peru Business Immersion programme will come together for a week in each of these markets for a unique opportunity to do a deep dive into opportunities for your business in these markets. The in-market programme will be determined once the needs of participants is identified in phase two however, we expect some of the benefits will include:

  • Attend functions that will enhance your relationships and allow numerous networking opportunities.
  • Be part of a New Zealand delegation that will allow you to develop real business relationships, promote your business and projects, and find potential leads and partners.
  • Individual business meetings that will be set based on your business goals.
  • Workshops with local in-market experts that will be set based on common business goals and challenges and will include local business insights.
  • Sectoral specific programmes and field trips to gain greater insights into end users’ needs and challenges.
  • Full administrative, translation and logistical support during the visit.

Phase 4 – Customised market development plans

  • Participate in a post-visit de-brief call with NZTE to discuss learnings and insights and develop an action plan.
  • NZTE will then work with you over a 3-month period to develop a longer-term customised market development plan including identification of actions that NZTE will undertake to support implementation of this plan.
  • NZTE will work with you and an advisor to refine your fit-for-purpose value proposition incorporating insights gained during the market immersion visit.  


The programme is a one-year programme involving four phases. Phase 1 of the programme is free. Phases 2-4 is NZD$3000 +GST for one market (Mexico or Peru) or NZD$3500 +GST for both markets.
(Note that commitment and payment is required before phase two starts. Costs do not include airfares, meals or accommodation during any phase.)
