We offer extensive in-house training and tools focussed on the capabilities you need to be successful in your role, including workshops on leadership, coaching and business acumen, and a regular coaching cafe. We also support external training, should it be right for your role and future aspirations.

There is nothing like in-market experience to help build your expertise, and while not all employees travel for work, there are opportunities to visit our international offices for projects, customer work, or on a temporary transfer. NZTE often has internal secondments that provide employees the opportunity to "try on" a different role for a short period of time.

Flexible working arrangements can benefit everyone – our people, their families, NZTE and our customers. That’s why at NZTE we are flexible by default. This can include working remotely, shifting the hours you work, or taking leave for big life events and career development. Our approach to flexibility is simple: it has to work for the individual, their team, and for NZTE.

Wherever you work in the world, we want you to have work-life balance. We recognise the importance of whānau and the various caring responsibilities our people have. Leave legislation varies by country, but we aim to be competitive and go beyond the minimum where we can.

For our New Zealand-based people, we offer five weeks' annual leave, 10 days' sick/ wellness leave (which can be rolled over, up to 20 days), and 10 days' domestic violence leave.

Globally, for all new parents (primary and secondary carers) we offer an additional 6 weeks Flexible Parents Leave valid for use over two years.

NZTE is proud to have won the Leadership Award (Medium-Large Organisation) at the Diversity Awards NZ. People at NZTE who whakapapa Māori and/or have direct responsibility to grow Māori customers internationally are invited to join Te Pora Māori. The kaupapa of this group is to be an internal voice on Māori partnership, to grow our Māori capability and leadership, and to offer whakawhanaungatanga.

To build whanaungatanga (a sense of belonging), NZTE invites new joiners to Kia Kaha, an overnight marae-based induction programme that will enhance your knowledge of your organisation, your colleagues and yourself.
