About our team

Invest New Zealand is tasked with attracting investment that helps to grow an inclusive, productive and sustainable economy.

To grow New Zealand's economy, we need to grow Māori. We take our commitment as a partner of Te Tiriti o Waitangi seriously. This is why we have a dedicated team with the cultural and commercial competence to support Māori entities and iwi.

Our Māori Investment team is dispersed around Aotearoa and we have expertise in corporate finance, strategy, investment banking and capital raising. We come from diverse backgrounds, from working in multinational private sector firms to owning our own businesses or supporting our own hapu's ventures (and seeking investment to grow them).

Supporting Ngāi Tai kī Tāmaki

The NZTE Investment team has supported Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki with funding for strategy workshops, financial modelling for large-scale housing developments and by assisting the iwi to analyse specific investment opportunities.

A key challenge for Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki was to use its resources more efficiently, particularly land. To help address this, NZTE Investment provided support with a data visualisation tool that explores alternative land uses.

The team at NZTE and Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki tautoko each other and are working together to find new opportunities in the post-Treaty settlement environment.
